Simon Litsyn

 

Professor Simon Litsyn is an expert in methods of reliable transmission and storage of information. Received Ph.D. in information theory from the Leningrad Electro-technical Institute (LETI), USSR, in 1982. Since 1991 he is with the School of Electrical Engineering of Tel Aviv university, where he is a full professor. Held long-time visiting positions at Bell Laboratories (Murray Hill, NJ), Shannon Laboratories of AT&T (Morristown, NJ), ENST (Paris), and others.

Author of two monographs, more than two hundred papers in leading profile journals and  fifty patents. Member of editorial boards of three leading profile journals.  Member of organizing and program committees of most prestigious international profile conferences. 

Professor Litsyn is actively involved in high-technology industry. In 1999-2012 he was Chief Scientist and Engineering Fellow of Sandisk, Israel.  Founder of several companies in the fields of communications, data and energy storage. Currently serves as CTO of StoreDot and CS of Tsofun companies.  

Recipient of many prizes, including 2015 IEEE Reynold B. Johnson Information Storage Systems Award for pioneering contributions in information storage systems based on flash memory.
