Reuven Shavit

Reuven Shavit received the B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in electrical engineering from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel, in 1971 and 1977, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, USA in 1982. In the period 1971-1993 he was associated with the Israeli M.O.D. During this period, he led two antenna and microwave groups and was involved in the design of reflector, microstrip, and slot antenna arrays. During this period, he taught various electromagnetic courses at Tel-Aviv University.

From 1988-1990 he was associated with ESSCO, Concord, MA, as a Principal Engineer involved in scattering analysis and tuning techniques of high performance ground based radomes. In 1994 he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Ben-Gurion University (BGU), Beer-Sheva, Israel, where he is currently Professor and responsible on the microwave components and antennas research activity.

He is also consulting on microwave and antenna projects to various Israeli and American companies and received during this period numerous research grants from industry and academia. Dr. Shavit is a Senior Member of IEEE. He published more than 60 journal papers in leading scientific journals and more than 120 conference papers.

In 2006, 2008 and 2009 he received best teaching awards from Ben-Gurion University. His present research interest is in the areas of metamaterials, smart antennas, tuning techniques for radomes and numerical methods for design microstrip, slot and reflector antennas.
