Pre Conference Tours

Pre-Tour I – Tel-Aviv, Dead Sea & Masada
(2 days – 2 nights)

Thursday, 5 June, 2014
Arriving to - Tel Aviv city.
Overnight – 5* Hotel in Tel-Aviv – BB

Friday, 6 June, 2014
A morning visit to the Rabin Center and acquaintance with the legacy of the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. The Center is comprised of The Israeli Museum, illustrating the history and development of the state of Israel and of Israeli society; the Educational Wing, with a wide array of experiential programming working with youth, soldiers and students; and the Archives and Library. The tour will focus on the Israeli Museum, which presents two parallel stories:  the history of the State and Israeli society, and the biography of Yitzhak Rabin. The museum exhibits historical highlights of the country’s development, presenting certain conflicts, social challenges and dilemmas which the country faced. Along the inner corridor and interwoven with the exhibits’ narratives is the story of the life of Yitzhak Rabin, the connecting thread in the country’s history.

Continue from here to Tel Aviv Port. The public spaces of the Port were recently redesigned by a team of Israeli landscape artists resulting in a revolutionary transformation, to become one of Israel's most striking and popular shopping and leisure centers; such project received the prestigious Rosa Barba European Landscape Prize 2010. The Port features a 65,600-square-foot-boardwalk, new seating areas, shops, bars, cafes and a farmer market.

From Tel-Aviv Port the tour will take a step away from contemporary Tel Aviv and enjoy the city's enchanting history in Neve Tzedek, the very first neighborhood in Tel Aviv. You will be enlightened by its faces, its many tales, and the nostalgia in its maze of homes and winding alleyways.

The tour continues by foot to the old Tel Aviv Train Station, the Tachana, the historic Tel Aviv-Jaffa train station complex located between the Neve Tzedek neighborhood and the Mediterranean Sea. The site, once the nerve center and bustling main junction for commerce from 1892 to 1948, has quickly become one of modern Tel Aviv’s hottest new entertainment and leisure complexes; you will have free time to walk around a wide selection of local stores and boutiques including a visit to boutiques of, and hopefully (though not definitive) personal audience with, two of Israel’s leading designers: Michal Negrin, who has been creating vintage-inspired designs for over two decades that include jewelry, fashion, home décor, and accessories and, and NOA, the creator of fashionable women’s and children’s collections.

Depart Tel Aviv after breakfast to the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea - the lowest point on earth. First we will view the Qumran site where the Dead Sea scrolls were discovered. Then continue to Masada, a rugged natural fortress of majestic beauty and history - where you will ascend by cable car to the top of the mountain. Masada became a famous landmark after the first Jewish-Roman war when a siege of the fortress by troops of the Roman Empire led to a mass suicide of the site's Jewish Sicarii fugitives when defeat became imminent. Continue southbound along the Dead Sea to the delightful Le Meridien Dead Sea hotel (or similar), Pool & Spa. The “Ma’ayan” Spa is one of the up-to-date in the region and features a heated Dead Sea water pool, rich in minerals, sulfur pools, modern Jacuzzi, dry Finnish sauna, hydrotherapy and comfortable, well equipped personal treatment rooms, in a tranquil, relaxed atmosphere, where we will enjoy a relaxing swimming pools & swimming in the Dead Sea.
