Shmuel Auster,

Since August 2006, Shmuel is with Elta Systems, serves as R&D programs manager and as the coordinator with R&D institutions at Elta Microwave Systems division. Previously Shmuel served as the RF&MW Chief Scientist at Elisra Electronic Systems Ltd, Israel (until July 2006). Until Sep. 2000 Shmuel was the Chief Scientist of the Microwave Division at Elisra.
From 1993 to 2000, Shmuel was a director of the Israeli GaAs/MMIC Consortium, serving as the Chairman of the Technical (R&D) Committee of the Consortium.

Shmuel Auster established and headed the Millimeter-Wave Technology (since 1980) and MMIC (since 1992) design activities at Elisra, was responsible for the developments in these fields and also for the development and design of passive and active microwave components and devices, RF, microwave and millimeter-wave receivers, transmitters, synthesizers, antennas, modules and sub-systems.

Shmuel served as the head of the communication activities at the Air Force’s Institute for Qualification of Engineers/Officers (at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel), where he performed and instructed several courses on Communications and on Microwaves (1989 to 2001).
Shmuel Auster was the vice-chairman and secretary of the 27th European Microwave Symposium (EuMC). He served as a member of the EuMC's Technical Program Committee (1996 and 1997) and as a member of the Management Committee of the EuMC (1996 to 1999). Since October 1999 he is a member of the Technical Program Committee of the European GAAS Association and Symposium (now called EuMIC).
Shmuel serves as member of the EuMA/EuMW Steering Committee and member of the EuMW Industrial Liaison Committee since August 2006.

In September 1999 Shmuel joined, as an active member, the Organizing Committee of the 2003 IEEE International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), where he also attained the position of Exhibits Committee Chairman and was a member of the Technical Program Committee as well.
Shmuel has served as sessions chairman and papers reviewer in several IEEE, EuMC, GAAS and EuMIC Symposiums. He is a reviewer for the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques. Shmuel organized and was the chairman of the IEEE Israel S-AP/MTT Chapter Symposiums in March 2004, May 2005, May 2006 and May 2007 (with over 45 topics and 500 attendees).
Shmuel serves as the Scientific Editor of the WaveTech magazine for microwaves, antennas and wireless communications, published in Israel.
Shmuel Auster is the Chairman of the Israeli chapter of the IEEE S-AP/MTT Chapter in Israel since August 2003. Shmuel is an IEEE Senior Member since February 1999 and a member since 1989.
