Dear friends and colleagues,
It is my privilege to welcome you to the 21st IEEE Israel AP/MTT
and AES Chapters Symposium that will take place in Tel-Aviv, May
15th, 2007.
Last year’s very successful symposium, with approximately 400 participants
from many companies, posed a challenge to organize an even greater
event. This year’s event promises inspiration and enhanced quality
alongside a professional Microwave exhibition.
The 2007 program offers a very impressive list of speakers, including
expert R&D engineers, top scientists and managers. Up-to-date
and fascinating topics will be presented to enrich the microwave,
antenna, wireless communication and radar communities with knowledge,
ideas, applications and challenges.
New this year! A Radars Session is joining the very popular and
well established Microwaves and Antennas program. Prof.
Nadav Levanon,
Tel Aviv University and chairman of the IEEE S-AES chapter, organizes
this session. The Radars Session will provide a particular interest
to an audience of engineers and decision makers from the radar
and electronic systems community by presenting system aspects and
innovations in this field.
The symposium includes five sessions:
• Opening (plenary)
• Microwaves, Antennas, Radars and RFICs (simultaneously).
Keynote Speaker Dr. Barry Perlman will be talking
about technology developments for the US Army CERDEC (Communications
Electronics R&D Center), and include a comparison with commercial
development. Dr. Perlman will also highlight some
advanced work with DARPA that follows what they did under the MIMIC/MAFET
programs such as the TEAM (technology for efficient agile Microsystems)
Program, e.g., Systems on a Chip , for C4ISR applications.
Dr. Perlman is an Associate Director responsible for Advanced Technology,
High Performance Computing (HPC) and DARPA Programs, CERDEC Headquarters,
US Army RDECOM.
Invited Speaker Dr. Dhrubes Biswas will
give perspectives and directions on growth of semiconductors fab
industry in India vis-a-vis technology realities and design space
of RFIC/mixed signal analog semiconductors.
Dr. Biswas is the Chief Technology Officer of the Indian Institute
of Technology in Kharagpur, INDIA. He received his M.S and Ph.D.
in Engineering from the University of Illinois, USA.
The Microwaves, Antennas, Radars and RFIC Sessions, held simultaneously,
will offer over thirty additional speakers and topics.
The exhibition will be organized alongside the symposium halls.
Companies and agencies will present CAD tools, test equipment,
RF, MW and MMW components and modules for electronic systems applications.
I wish to thank the authors and all the people and organizations
that have supported our work.
Special thanks to the symposium’s main sponsor, Agilent
Technologies,
and to the
co-sponsors EYAL Microwave, ORBIT/FR, Herley
General Microwave Israel, Ultram Technologies and
Summit Electronics, for their support and generous sponsorship.
As in previous years, this Symposium will be a valuable, enriching
and fun event, and an excellent opportunity to meet and socialize
with colleagues.
