The Organizing Committee has appointed Ortra Ltd., a registered travel agent, as the official organizer and travel agent for the Conference.

Rooms have been reserved at the Renaissance Jerusalem Hotel in two categories: the Renaissance Wing
(5 star) and the Royal Wing (4 Star), which will be offered to the Conference participants at special reduced rates only if booked through Ortra. Double and single occupancy rooms will be available. Only a limited number of rooms in the Renaissance wing have Internet connection. If you require this service please specify it on your “Tourist Services Form”.


Additional Tourist Services

Ortra Ltd. will offer pre-and post-Conference tours. Participants are invited to make additional tourist services reservations as desired, such as hotel extensions, regular tours, private car tours, car rentals, touring in limousines with driver/guide, etc..

A. Travel

Airport transfers
Ortra Ltd. will arrange upon request, transfers on a sharing-basis from the airport to the Renaissance Hotel on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4 at cost of US$30 per person (up to 30 minutes waiting time). Alternatively a private transfer for up to 5 persons per car can be arranged at cost of US$ 65 per car. Participants who book this service should notify the Secretariat of their arrival details no later than one week prior to arrival and they will be met at the airport by Ortra’s representatives at the “Tour Bus” counter, located in the Arrival Hall (after customs).

Airport Taxis
Transfers from the airport to Jerusalem by Nesher airport taxis are available outside the terminal at cost of
40 NIS (US$9) per person (as of March 2004). This service operates on a sharing basis (up to 60 minutes wait) and can accommodate up to 8 people in a car. No need to book in advance.


Travel to Israel
The best way to travel to Israel is by air. There are regular flights from most major cities in Europe and North America to Ben-Gurion International Airport. The official airline for the conference is El Al Israel Airlines. Delegates and their accompanying persons are offered 10% discounted airfares with a waiver of the minimum stay on El Al flights from Europe, USA, Far East and South Africa. The Discount applies to all El Al fares, except L and G classes. Discount sales only at El AL reservations offices with a special booking code JG101 for the USA and G/S21/CSE/P6 for all other destinations. Please state this code when making your reservation.

* Important Notes:

  1. The Conference participants can enjoy the above rates as from June 27, 2004 and until July 17, 2004.
  2. Participants requesting to share a double room should send their Tourist Services Forms within one week. The Secretariat will not accept reservations for sharing double rooms unless the forms are received within one week and both forms clearly state the name of the person that they are sharing a room with. To find a roommate, post a message to the Jerusalem 2004 discussion forum.
  3. The number of single rooms is limited.
  4. Internet connection in the room is only available in a limited number of rooms located in the Renaissance wing. If you wish to receive this service please specify it on the “Tourist Services Form”.
  5. Disabled individuals are recommended to order rooms in the Renaissance Wing.

Arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport and transfer to the Metropolitan Hotel in Tel Aviv or Similar. Overnight at the Metropolitan Hotel in Tel Aviv.

Wednesday, June 30, 2004
Depart from Tel Aviv after breakfast to Caesarea to visit the Roman Theatre. Proceed to Haifa for a visit of the magnificent Bahai Gardens. Continue to the Golan Heights for a panoramic view of Syria and the Golan from Mount Bental. Dinner with the kibbutz members and overnight at the Merom Golan Kibbutz Hotel.

Thursday, July 1, 2004
Depart after breakfast to Katzrin for a visit of the Talmudic Synagogue and Museum. Continue on to the Golan Heights Winery which was founded in 1983 and since has succeeded in producing award-winning wines by combining state-of-the-art technology with traditional vinification techniques. Drive to Hamat Gader to see the remains from the Roman Baths, the crocodile farm and enjoy a dip in the Natural Thermo-mineral pools. Proceed to the yard of Kibbutz Kinneret and cemetery and hear the stories about the “Halutzim” (pioneers) who came to Israel at the end of the 19th century to build the land. Dinner and overnight in Kibbutz Ma’agan Guesthouse.

Friday, July 2, 2004
Depart after breakfast and drive along the Jordan valley with a stop in Bet She’an, one of Israel’s most ancient cities, which was an affluent center of culture. The city is located at an important crossroads between east and west and dates back to the 5th millennium BCE. Afterwards continue to Jerusalem to arrive around noontime prior to Shabbat.

Departure to a visit of U. Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art; Drive to Or Yehuda to visit the Museum of Babylonian Jewry. Continue traveling to Safed, including lunch stop. Touring of Safed. Evening program sponsored by Safed Foundation.
Overnight at the Ruth Rimonim Hotel or Similar.

Monday, July 12, 2004
Continue the tour of Safed and visit the Museum of Hungarian Speaking Jewry. After lunch proceed to Lochamei Haghettaot for a visit of Museum and lecture. Dinner and overnight in Nahariya at the new Park Plaza Hotel or similar.

Tuesday, July 13, 2004
Depart Nahariya to Haifa. Visit the Museum of Illegal Immigration. Continue to Atlit for a visit and lecture, and then proceed to Tel Aviv. Visit the Diaspora Museum. Drop off at centrally located hotels for those staying in Tel Aviv.

Kindly make your requests for tourist services by the online “Tourist Services Form” and return it with payment to Ortra Ltd. Payment to Ortra Ltd. can be made by bank draft, bank transfer to account no. #142-472330 at Bank Hapoalim (swift code poalilit), Branch no. 780, Itzhak Sade Street, Tel-Aviv, Israel or by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Diners and American Express only). Online registration and payment by credit card are on a secure server.

Tourist Services Payment Terms
A two (2) nights deposit will be charged upon receipt of the hotel accommodation reservation, and the remainder will be paid to Ortra Ltd. at our registration desk, in the beginning of the conference.
Other tourist services will be charged in full upon receipt of the reservations. Deposits will be refunded according to the cancellation policy.

Tourist Services Cancellation Policy
In case of cancellation, payments will be refunded in full, except for US$ 100 cancellation fee plus bank charge, if written notification reaches Ortra by June 10, 2004. Afterwards, US$ 100 cancellation fee and 1 night hotel
charge and bank charges will be retained.
Please Note! You can purchase Cancellation Insurance for US$ 50 (non refundable), which allows you to receive a full refund of all Tourist Services payments (including accommodation, tours and transfers) with a
notification of up to 48 hours prior to the conference commencement. If you purchase this insurance, the tourist services cancellation fees will not apply.
