DAY 1

Departure from Yearim Hotel to Kalia beach on the Dead Sea, the deepest landlocked salty lake in the world. Interestingly, it is also the lowest point on earth at 423 meters below sea level. Embraced by the Judean desert, close to where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found, Kalia beach will offer a nice way to start the tour and live a relaxing floating experience. On the way to this unique place, you will stop for a panoramic view of Jericho, known as the oldest inhabited town in the world and the most excavated site in the West Bank after Jerusalem. This is really a beautiful rich oasis (258 meters/846 ft. below sea level) of greenery in a desert landscape.

Then, depart to Oren farm, in the Moshav Netiv HaGdud. Haim Oren, who came there after completing his studies in Tel Aviv University and us an agronomist by profession, joined the Ministry of Agriculture as head instructor for dates and figs and as regional instructor for grapes in the professional extension service. At Oren farm, you will have an explanation about dates, grapes, argan and figs growing methods in harsh climate and the conditions of the region.

Drive to kibbutz Degania for check in. Degania, Mother of the Kibbutzim, was established in 1910 and is considered as the first kibbutz in Israel, thoughts of communal settlement and communes permeated the intellectual atmosphere of Europe at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

Then meet Dr. Nevot Galpaz of the Northern R&D, at the banana research farm in Zemach that will present diverse experimental approaches, aiming in yield improvement under sub-optimal environmental conditions.  

Finally, end the day walking along the Kinneret Lake Promenade and taste the famous Saint Peter fish for dinner.

Overnight at kibbutz Degania

DAY 2

Sunday, June 27, 2021

After an Israeli breakfast, depart kibbutz Degania to kibbutz Gshur at the southern area of the Golan Height, a small kibbutz with about 50 members, that was the first in Israel to plant olive trees in super high-density hedgerows and use the overhead harvester for grapes to also harvest olives (significantly shortening the time from when they are picked to pressed and improving the quality of the oil): visit there the plantation as well as the olive mill and taste quality extra virgin olive oils, typical of the area.

Continue to Merom Golan orchards, at the northern Golan Height, a reference place for Sweet cherry, pear, plum, kiwifruit   and apples from different cultivars and different cultivation methods.

Then, drive to Capernaum, located not far from other important Christian sites in Israel such as Bethsaida, the Mount of Beatitudes, and Tabgha. View the ruins of the ancient synagogue where Jesus taught.
