FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT 
AND CALL FOR PAPERS

 
Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the National and International Organizing Committee, we are pleased to invite you to participate in the 6th CID Computers in Diabetes Symposium, to be held on September 14-16, 2000 in The Sharon Hotel, Herzliya, Israel, on the occasion of the 36th EASD Annual Meeting.

Computers in Diabetes 2000 will present ”state of the art” applications of information technology in diabetes care. Computers in Diabetes 2000 is the sixth symposium of its kind. These symposia have now established themselves as a central forum for presentation of new developments with contributions from most of the European groups working in this area.

The biennial Computers in Diabetes symposia will take place under the auspices of the European Society for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIME) and the EASD Study Group DOIT (Diabetes Care Optimization through Information Technology).

The proceedings will appear in the form of an abstract book published in a special issue of Diabetes, Nutrition & Metabolism. In line with the previous symposia, the journal ”Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine” has offered to publish selected contributions in a special issue.

The symposium will address the following themes:

MEDICAL RECORDS
Electronic Medical Records - Diabetes Registers - Quality Assurance

DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS
Rule- and Model-Based Advisory Systems - Metabolic and Pharmacokinetic Modelling - Educational Tools and Simulators - Screening and Image Processing

TELEMEDICINE
The symposium has oral presentations and poster sessions.

The Symposium site in Herzliya is situated 15 km north of Tel Aviv and the Old City of Jaffa. Herzliya is a resort area with sandy white beaches for your leisure. Following the tradition of previous meetings, the Organizing Committee is planning an exciting scientific and social program.
