Dr. Anatoly Tsaliovich
IATC / EB Chair
IATC Mission and Functions
International Advisory Technical Council (IATC) is an international
group of engineers and scientists serving as an advisory entity to the
2003 IEEE EMC Symposium and committed to suggesting, promoting, facilitating,
implementing, and coordinating important Symposium Program-related activities.
The Council work is based on the dedication of the Council members to
scientific and engineering excellence and free exchange of professional
information and opinions, supported by their expertise, knowledge, and
reputation.
Service in the IATC is bestowed on worthy professionals as a sign of their
recognition by world wide EMC community, is viewed as an honor, and carries
certain authorities and obligations
IATC Charter
- Facilitate the
organization and holding of the 2003 International EMC Symposium by
carrying out the liaison with international EMC community, coordinating
Symposium Program-related international activities, assisting the Symposium
Technical Committee in session and workshop organization and paper review
- Be a forum of international
experts that could provide recommendations as to “hot” topics, or fields
of engineering on which we would like to concentrate.
- Form a “bank” of
experts that in case of need could be called upon for many technical
tasks, such as organizing sessions or papers, again thanks to their
contacts, or recommend on such topics. Their names should be well known,
and will be placed on the Web, in order to add prestige to the Symposium.
We would also encourage to add people to that Council.
- Work in close coordination
with the Symposium Editorial Board (EB). In fact, we consider EB as
an integral part of IATC.
We
believe that many more usages can be made of this Council. We are always
open to critical reviews and free expression of opinion with regard to
the policies, strategies, duties and tasks of this committee.
EB Mission and Functions
Editorial Board (EB) is an international group of engineers and
scientists, predominantly but not necessarily members of IATC, who coordinate
the paper review process with the EMC Society TAC Committee in the areas
of their expertise, engage additional local and world wide paper reviewers
when necessary, and participate in the Symposium Technical Program development
and implementation. The additional function of the EB is to provide the
platform for establishing and enforcing uniform standards for paper review.
The actual size of the EB is determined by the amount of pending work
to do and requests by Symposium organizers.
IATC and EB Status and Immediate Action
Item List
Delineating the immediate practical steps that both IATC and EB should
take up immediately, as well as working on the long range goals, is an
on-going process.
- Committee organization is accomplished.
By now, the initial organization of the IATC and EB Committees is complete.
In particular, the Editorial Board is grouped in the topical subcommittees
(TS) reflecting the technical themes of the Symposium, the TS chairs
and members are nominated and by and large coordinated with the membership
at large. The EB is ready to start the 2003 Symposium paper submission
reviews, as soon as requested by Symposium organizers and provided with
appropriate Instructions.
- Liaison, Cooperation, and Coordination with “sister” organizations
We are still looking into and trying to provide liaison with the respective
organizations within the EMCS and other “sister” societies: Automotive,
Biological/Medical, etc. Any help in this respect is appreciated
- Publicity
Being well known in industry and academia, you are in a good position
to provide local and international contacts, names, and titles for the
Symposium organizers and for potential new members of IATC; facilitate
your contacts joining the IATC and EB.
- Adopt a Session, a Workshop, or any other Symposium activity
Please review the published on the 2003 Istanbul EMC Symposium
WEB site planned list of sessions and / or topics. You may volunteer,
as you feel appropriate, for sponsoring any of these sessions or suggest
your own sessions, for helping to invite lecturers, chairing the session
(if there is no chair), advertising the session within your own local
professional community and/or helping the 2003 Symposium Technical Program
Chairman to do this, for providing additional information on the subject,
helping to actually conduct the session, etc. It is our understanding
that the "Adopter" will work in close contact with the session
chair if such is identified) or may be himself (herself) volunteer to
chair a given session, if there is no chair identified to date.
- Proactive Attitude
Members of the IATC and EB Committees are encouraged to work proactively
and come up with suggestions of the organizations’ activities along
the lines of their definitions and functions. We are sure you can come
up with many more activities and your input is solicited and welcome.
